A Jan Seva Diwas celebration at Bir Kullemajra on the outskirts of Patiala saw 5,801 saplings distributed and planted on August 16, with District Planning Committee chairman Tejinder Mehta planting the 5,801st tree himself — a Triveni combining Neem, Peepal, and Banyan in a single planting, a form long associated with community shade and shared blessing.

Alongside the plantation drive, a mega blood donation camp ran from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at SDKs Bhawan, dedicated specifically to children suffering from thalassemia who depend on regular transfusions. Organisers also ran an awareness and registration campaign for eye and organ donation, with Dr Bikram Singh of the Animal Husbandry department and other officials joining the day's events.

While the Patiala event carried its own local political backdrop, the underlying ethic, seva through daan of blood, shade, and time, is one gurdwaras in Jagraon and across the Malwa belt practise year-round through their own langar kitchens and health camps. Community volunteers here say such large-scale drives are a reminder that the Sikh tradition of selfless service finds an echo in every corner of Punjab, regardless of who organises the event.
